Six songs in Liberation Transmission, Lostprophets' third full-length release, Ian Watkins, sings "The haircut's hot, but it eventually stopped, good shoes will not save you this time." Maybe he should heed his own advice.Had they spent Twice less time to cultivate their songs as a floppy drive fringes, this album could have been quite special.
Rather, it is a missed opportunity. In 2006, it quickly became the Year Of The Emo, it was the Pontypridd boys chance to show popular American imports Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco how it's done. Unfortunately, the bulk of liberation ... The content is light-heavy and production (to learn when Bob Rock?).
The 'Prophets have a remarkable ability to evoke a colossal chorus, but it is a trick they play here too. And some of the album is more cheesy moments, such as the Casio keyboard 30 seconds after "Can not Stop, Got a Date With Hate", can not help but make you cringe.
However, the first single "Shelter" - a natural Start Something's "Last Train Home" - is further proof that Lostprophets radio-friendly rock anthems were better than anyone else. Trouble is, they know that, and a large single do an album.
